Privacy Policy
The short version
- Your prayers stay on your phone. Prayer journal entries, bookmarks, streaks and settings are stored only on your device. We never receive them.
- No account and no ads. There is no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
- Ask Grace questions are sent to our server and an AI provider so an answer can be written. We don't keep the text of your questions.
- Google Play handles payments. We never see your card details.
1. Who we are
Bible & You ("the app", "we", "us") is published by Online Ventures LLC, a Mississippi limited liability company, United States. If you have questions about this policy, email [email protected].
2. Information that stays on your device
The app stores the following only in its private storage on your phone. It is not uploaded to us or anyone else:
- Prayer journal entries, their categories and dates, and whether they've been answered
- Bible bookmarks
- The dates you opened the app, used for your streak
- How many Ask Grace questions you've asked today
- Your settings: reminder times, font size, theme, and whether you've finished onboarding
- An anonymous app identifier (described in section 3)
The Bible text (King James Version) and the daily verses are built into the app, so reading works offline. Android may include this app data in your device backup if you have backups turned on. That backup is controlled by your Google account settings, not by us.
Deleting it: clear the app's storage in Android Settings, or uninstall the app. Either one permanently removes everything above from the phone.
3. Information sent when you use Ask Grace
Ask Grace is the only feature that uses the internet, apart from purchases. When you send a question, the app sends the following to our server:
| What | Why | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|
| The text of your question | To get an answer from our AI provider | Not stored. It is passed on and discarded once the answer is sent. |
| An anonymous app identifier, created by the app and not linked to your name, email, phone number or Google account | To apply the daily free-question limit and prevent abuse | See below. |
| Your IP address, which every internet connection reveals | To keep the service secure and prevent abuse | See below. |
| If you subscribe to Premium: subscription information from Google Play | To confirm that your subscription is active | See below. |
How long we keep it: we keep this information to run the service and prevent abuse for up to 365 days, and then delete it automatically. If an app identifier or IP address is involved in abuse, we may keep a record of it for longer, to block it.
The app keeps no conversation history, and answers are not stored on our server.
Don't include personal details such as full names, addresses or health information in your questions, because they are processed by an AI service.
AI providers
To write and safety-check answers, your question is sent to our AI providers, Anthropic and OpenAI. They process the question only to produce and check a response. Under their business terms they do not use it to train their models, and they may keep it for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring. See the Anthropic privacy policy and the OpenAI privacy policy.
The AI providers receive only the question text, never your app identifier, IP address or subscription information.
Hosting
Ask Grace requests are handled by our own server, which we operate and control. It does not log the text of your questions.
4. Purchases (Premium)
Subscriptions are sold and managed by Google Play. Google processes your payment and shares with us only what's needed to confirm that your subscription is active. We never receive your name, email or payment details from Google. See the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Notifications and the home-screen widget
Daily verse reminders, the optional evening prayer reminder and the home-screen widget are all created on your phone. No server is involved, and nothing is sent to us. You can turn reminders off in the app's Settings or in Android's notification settings.
6. Sharing a verse
When you tap Share, the app opens Android's share menu with the verse text. Whatever app you choose, such as messages or email, receives the text under its own privacy policy. We don't see what you share or with whom.
7. What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent or trade any information.
- We don't show ads or use advertising IDs.
- We don't use analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools.
- We don't ask for your location, contacts, camera, microphone or files.
8. Children
Bible & You is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. The only data we receive at all is the short-lived information described in section 3. If you believe a child has used Ask Grace and want something removed, contact us and we'll help.
9. Your choices and rights
- Use the app without sending anything: don't use Ask Grace or Premium. Everything else works offline.
- Delete your data: uninstall the app or clear its storage. Data on our server is deleted automatically, as described in section 3.
- Requests: depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you may have rights to access, delete or object to the processing of your information. We hold almost nothing that can identify you, but email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days.
Where the GDPR applies, the legal bases we rely on are: performing the service you asked for (answering your question, providing Premium), and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and preventing abuse.
10. Security
All communication between the app and our server is encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we store minimal and short-lived.
11. International processing
Our server and AI providers may process your question in the United States or other countries. Where required, these providers use legal safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
12. Our website and emails
Website: bibleandyou.com uses no cookies, analytics, ads or third-party scripts, and its fonts are served from our own server. Like any web server, ours keeps standard access logs (IP address, page requested, time and browser type) to keep the site secure and working. These logs are deleted within 30 days.
Support emails: if you email us for support, we use your email address and message only to reply to you.
Launch and update emails: if you send us your email address to be told when the app launches, or to hear about updates, you agree to receive an email when Bible & You is available on Google Play and occasional emails after that about new features of the app and about other apps we make. We keep your address until you unsubscribe. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, or you can email [email protected] at any time, and we'll remove your address promptly.
We never sell or share your email address.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, for significant changes, mention it in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
